Jos is part of Grant Thornton’s VAT team. He is a member of the Construction & Real Estate industry group, where he advises clients on complex VAT and real estate transfer tax matters.
Jos has gained more than ten years of tax experience in both the public sector and the private sector. He previously worked at the Dutch Tax Authorities as a case officer handling VAT objection procedures and as a tax specialist at the listed company RELX. In addition, he has extensive experience as an adviser and sparring partner for businesses across a wide range of sectors and international structures.
Jos obtained both a master’s degree in Indirect Taxation and a master’s degree in International Trade and Corporate Law from Maastricht University. In 2025, he also successfully completed the Post-Master’s programme in Real Estate Taxation at Erasmus University Rotterdam. His thesis was awarded the programme’s thesis prize.
His client portfolio consists of national and international businesses, real estate investors, property developers, housing associations and family-owned businesses. He advises on a broad range of VAT, real estate transfer tax and real estate-related tax matters, including transaction structuring, real estate development projects, restructurings, due diligence processes and tax risk analyses.
Through his combination of technical tax expertise, practical experience and sector specialisation, Jos is able to translate complex legislation into pragmatic and workable solutions that align with his clients’ commercial and strategic objectives.
