Arno Kroese has been a partner in Business Risk Services at Grant Thornton Netherlands since 1 March 2026.
His ambition is to help organisations strengthen their internal control and (digital) operational resilience, especially now that laws and regulations place increasing demands on board members and risk functions. Through advisory services and independent assurance, he delivers both strategic and operational added value.
He has over 25 years of experience, primarily in the financial sector, in the areas of:
- (IT) audit, including Internal Control over Financial Reporting (Sarbanes–Oxley)
- Third‑party assurance, such as ISAE 3000, ISAE 3402 (SOC 1), and SOC 2
- (IT) risk management, including the implementation of internal control frameworks such as COBIT and NIS2/DORA
- Quality assurance for (IT) projects and programs
After studying Business Economics at Erasmus University, Arno started his career in financial audit at KPMG. During this period, he completed the training to become a Chartered Accountant (RA). A few years later, he transitioned to KPMG’s IT Assurance & Advisory practice, where he also qualified as a Registered IT Auditor (RE). In this role, he primarily performed IT audits and third‑party assurance engagements.
After serving as a Risk & Compliance Officer at Coöperatie VGZ for 4.5 years, he returned to KPMG. During this second tenure, he expanded his focus beyond IT audit and third‑party assurance to include advisory work in IT risk management and quality assurance for (IT) projects and programs.
Clients value his pragmatic and solution‑oriented approach, in which he shows a strong commitment to delivering meaningful added value.
