René Zijdeman is a partner at Grant Thornton Netherlands. He operates at the intersection of national and international corporate and commercial contract law and has built up extensive expertise over the years in numerous M&A transactions, both domestic and cross-border. Within Grant Thornton Netherlands, René leads the Corporate Law division and is also responsible for the overall technical quality of the firm’s legal services.
After studying law at Erasmus University and notarial law at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, René gained experience in various legal roles and as a practising lawyer before joining Grant Thornton.
René has worked at Grant Thornton for over 20 years, where he is widely regarded as a knowledgeable and experienced sparring partner for clients and colleagues. He advises companies and organisations on complex legal matters and disputes in corporate and contract law, including liability claims, restructuring issues, and shareholder conflicts. René also advises on both the buy- and sell-side of M&A transactions, overseeing due diligence processes and leading negotiations through to closing. He has a particular technical interest and expertise in real estate-related legal matters.
