Press Release

Grant Thornton Netherlands joins international platform

Accounting and consultancy firm Grant Thornton Netherlands  has completed the transaction that makes it part of the multinational, multidisciplinary platform that was established earlier this year by Grant Thornton Advisors LLC in the United States. The platform was created with the support of an investor group led by New Mountain Capital, a growth-oriented investment firm.

  • Joining the platform allows Grant Thornton Netherlands to offer enhanced services to new and existing clients across markets, underpinned by investments in quality and innovation.
  • In addition to the Dutch organisation, the platform consists of Grant Thornton Advisors LLC in the United States, Grant Thornton Ireland, Grant Thornton United Arab Emirates and Grant Thornton Cayman Islands. Recently, the organisations in Luxembourg, Switzerland/Liechtenstein and the Channel Islands have also announced their intention to join. Several other transactions with Grant Thornton firms, including Switzerland/Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and the Channel Islands, have been signed and are expected to close in the coming months — along with the recently announced agreement to acquire Auxis, a US-based leader and pioneer in Latin American outsourcing and business modernization services.
  • Grant Thornton Netherlands has 800 professionals across eight Dutch offices. The platform has nearly 13,500 team members in almost 60 offices.
  • The members of the platform remain part of the Grant Thornton International Limited network, which is comprised of member firms in more than 150 markets worldwide.
  • Financial details are not being disclosed.

Governance

The audit practice of Grant Thornton Netherlands will operate independently under an alternative practice structure, in order to continue to comply with the Dutch Act on audit firm supervision (Wet toezicht accountantsorganisaties). The Board of Directors will continue to exist of Marcel Blöte (CEO), Ronald Houtveen and Bart Jonker.

See the press release of May 16th for more information about the strategic alliance.
