Michiel studied tax law at Tilburg University and started as a tax advisor at Deloitte at the end of 2003. As an advisor in corporate tax and international tax law, he has spent the past 20 years working in various (multidisciplinary) teams with a broad client portfolio of international (listed) companies and large family businesses, particularly in the Consumer Business industry. As a consultant, Michiel has extensive experience in managing international tax assignments including establishment, financing and (re)structuring issues.

In addition, Michiel gained experience in the role of interim corporate tax specialist during an acquisition and refinancing process for a listed company. Since 2019, as Tax Director, Michiel was ultimately responsible for tax broad services and thus a 'trusted business advisor' for some larger relations. In recent years Michiel has additionally specialized in Research & Development incentive assignments, including the application of the Innovation Box. Early in 2024 Michiel made the switch to Grant Thornton and in the role of Tax partner is responsible for the International Tax services to (inter)national client relations of Grant Thornton.
