Robert de Bruin is a compliance manager at Grant Thornton Netherlands. His career began in 1986 at De Boer and Van Keulen tax advisors in The Hague. In the evenings at the time, he attended the professional training of the FB (Federatie Belastingadviseurs), now known as the RB.

Robert started in the general tax return practice and gained a lot of experience over the years. After a number of mergers and moves, he also worked for a number of years in the more international and corporate oriented tax compliance practice of PWC in Amsterdam.

In the mid-90s he made the switch to the general SME practice, of what is now known as Grant Thornton Leiden. Due to his now many years of experience, he combines tax return work with advisory work and client management.

His career at Grant Thornton was interrupted after about 16 years for a period of more than 10 years by a foray into a niche accounting firm in Amsterdam. Since April 1, 2020, in the midst of corona time, he has returned to Grant Thornton in Leiden as Head of Tax Practice/Manager Compliance, in connection with the retirement of Grant Thornton icon Ton Bakker, who has worked for Grant Thornton all his life.
